BREAKING NEWS:

Obama, Bush Continue Negotiations Over Coffee Table

Washington, DC - Earlier this month President Obama and former President Bush met in the oval office to settle final transitional tasks. Top priority on the agenda was the negotiation over the beloved Oval office coffee table, designed by HOUSEBOATSTUDIO.

After six hours of negotiation, it was settled the way most Washington matters are settled, with an all-out hard cash bidding war. An undisclosed amount of cash, two free pardons, and tickets to a Radiohead concert were reportedly among the goods bartered before Obama eventually secured the table.

MORE BREAKING NEWS:

Protest Over Tishamingo Album Artwork Grammy Scandal

Los Angeles, CA - Over five years later, artist and designer Ben S. Johnson has been stripped of his 2003 Grammy Award for Best Southern Rock and Blues, with a hint of Jazz but Definitely Not a Jam Band Album Artwork when the Artists Association Against Paint Eating (AAAPE) revealed last week that Johnson tested positive for eating paint. In his defense, Mr. Johnson claimed, "I deny using performance enhancing drugs. But yeah, I did eat some paint."

In hopes of raising funds to protest to the ruling, Johnson has produced two all new paintings, each identical to the original Tishamingo Album Artwork, but with 1/2" extra bonus material on the sides. The special edition Tishamingo paintings will be auctioned at Sotheby's starting at €160,000 each, however high quality art prints are now available for purchase online, starting at around $16.

Architecture Spotlight:

Schwimmhausboot

No, we do not make houseboats (yet).  But that doesn't’t change the fact that they’re really cool. This houseboat was designed by Confused Direction in Germany. The best part is the name: Schwimmhausboot (http://www.schwimmhausboot.de/).

Nate’s Tool Tips

By Nate Johnson: Furniture Builder, Genius

Hi, my name is Nate and I'm a tool-a-holic. Once in a while I like to take some time out and give a safety tip or two about tools you often use around the house. Today I'd like to talk about inverted microprocessor calipers--a simple, common household tool that often gets misunderstood.

  • Never re-invert the caliper end without first adjusting the microprocessor knob. This is a no-brainer.
  • Sometimes I’m not even aware I’m using my IMC, so always wear a safety harness.
  • Always spin around clockwise while checking your grounding wire to reduce the risk of electric shock.
  • Never operate an IMC in public, as they look similar to IDGBs, which were recently outlawed by the NFC, unless you’re licensed.
  • If you begin to feel dizzy, rinse your eyes out with vinegar and clean between your toes. You laugh, but it works every time.
