Since 1980 Johnson Peterson Architects (JPA) has remained a reliable source of innovative and award winning architecture for the Tallahassee/North Florida area. HOUSEBOATSTUDIO worked with JPA to overhaul their existing identity system and create an online presence for the firm. The challenge was to create an identity that is both clean and creative, architectural yet distinct. The solution is a cost-effective, monotone teal color palette and flexible logo mark used across business cards, letterhead, signage, and website. JPA turned to HOUSEBOATSTUDIO to design, develop and maintain the website, which was built with careful consideration for usability and search engine optimization. As a result of the brand identity overhaul, JPA has continued to evolve as an established leader in their region into an exciting, innovative firm ready to move into new markets.

Dubbed "The Next Great Thing in Southern Rock" by An Honest Tune in 2006, Tishamingo took off from Athens, Georgia and launched into touring across the US and Europe. Ben S. Johnson has been providing his creative services as HOSUEBOATSTUDIO to the band since 2001. Working with a highly dedicated group of artists such as Tishamingo offers ample creative opportunity, but the real challenge is matching the fun-timing projects with serious business considerations. Utilizing his professional design experience in web, print and identity, Ben has helped ensure the visual side of Tishamingo matches the great music.

The Southeastern Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (SASHTO) is dedicated to meeting the personal mobility and goods movement needs of the southeast region (13 states). The Florida Department of Transportation hired Design Farm to create a unified brand identity for SASHTO that showcases the umbrella organization rather than just the once-a-year conference (hosted by Florida in 2008). As the creative director and lead designer, Ben met the challenges of this project by creating a sophisticated yet simple brand identity system that can effectively evolve from year to year as each year's conference is hosted by a different member state. The website is also flexible, as it includes a back-end, web-based content management system created by Design Farm. The 2008 conference was a huge success and the identity materials won universal praise from the participating members.

QLu began with the idea of creating a unique service that collects everyday celebrity items and sells them through the eBay marketplace, generating money for the respective celebrities’ charity or cause of choice. Ben led Design Farm's effort to help QLu attain instant credibility with celebrities and their fans by building the QLu brand identity from scratch. A suite of print materials were produced that were environmentally friendly as well as cost effective, including a 20+ page "How to QLu" booklet sent to celebrities and celebrity agents everywhere. The QLu business model relied on powerful online functionality, so Design Farm created a content-managed website that worked seamlessly with eBay to provide up-to-the-minute status on celebrity items up for auction. Ben's role as the web designer and art director was to work closely with Design Farm programmers to ensure the website design was great looking and highly functional. The creative efforts were a success as QLu helped celebrities such as Mariska Hargitay, Hugh Hefner, Jimmy Buffet, Nelly, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill raise money for numerous charities, foundations, and other good causes.
