A common theme in HOUSEBOATSTUDIO designs is a conceptual interpretation of the structural system of a building. In this proposal for a mixed use development the ‘folded plate’ was taken as a simple structural typology and morphed into a complex system of floors and walls. The end result is a structural system that becomes equally important visually as functionally. This unique way of building creates exciting and original types of spaces. Program included retail, hotel, theatre, convention center, and condominium.
