Unfortunately, structural systems in buildings are most often intentionally concealed and not integrated with the composition of the overall design. In this conceptual proposal for a mixed use development, the 'folded plate' was taken as a simple structural typology and morphed into a complex system of floors and walls. The end result is a structural system that becomes equally important functionally and aesthetically. This unique way of building creates exciting and unique spaces, while at the same time uses the necessary structure to express the building's method of construction. Program included retail, hotel, theatre, convention center, and condominium.
